Barcelona

Barcelona, the European equivalent to Miami beach. I have however, never had the pleasure of visiting Miami beach, but a vibrant city with a gorgeous beach and lots of palm trees is what I have in mind. Added to the ancient buildings and architecture, you thus have the European equivalent, situated in the North-East of Spain.

Barcelona is everything you could want for a girls weekend. My partner in crime took a few days off work and we headed out on a friday morning, prepared for sunshine, beaches and ocean swims; not to mention copious amounts of strawberry daiquiri's. With a city on your doorstep, there are endless restaurants, bars and clubs to choose from so we were never disappointed.

If you're going at the end of March however, don't expect beach days and ocean swims. The weather was beautiful, but not consistent, and the crazy locals will still be in jeans and coats - but they were in Malta when it was 38 degrees, so that's not unusual.

Places we checked out:

Corner // A small, relaxed bar, with indoor and outdoor seating, good music and yummy cocktails
(Nearest tube: Barceloneta)
Temple Bar Irish Pub // I loved this place! It's like a little sports bar, packed out, with cheap drinks and lots of lovely locals
(Nearest tube: Liceu)

Juanita // Some of the best Nachos I've ever had, the only thing lacking was some good salsa
(Nearest tube: Barceloneta)
Lonja de Tapas // I've never had spanish tapas before but this was a great first try, possibly avoid the peppers
(Nearest tube: Jaume I)
Four days of sun proved to be the perfect perfect cure for pre-revision blues, I think I could have stayed out there and just skipped all my exams.
